The SIMUGENS software, developed in 2012 by D&T-SHRAIL, is an agent-based crowd simulator, able to reproduce the behaviour of large number of individuals in various situations, including urban areas, events, mass transit, shopping centres.
In 2020, following the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, SIMUGENS has been expanded with a set of functionalities focused on the dynamics of the
infections in large crowds and on the evaluation of possible mitigation solutions.
SIMUGENS can now simulate individual infections based on people distance and exposure time as well as infective objects or surfaces, calculating infection rates over time.
